The Kia Proceed's engine range is simple to wrap your head around - there are only three options. All come from the higher end of the Ceed range, which means there's no entry-level 1.0-litre petrol. Instead, the range kicks off with a 1.4-litre petrol, sitting below a 1.6-litre diesel and a 1.6-litre petrol exclusive to the range-topping GT.. The base gamma engine has been around a while and powers a lot of kia/hyundai models. From what I can tell, there was very little changed with 1.6t in the new gt.. I've seen any stories about the gt's blowing an engine without an aftermarket mod being mentioned and people push the pro-/ceed/veloster quite hard. My gt doesn't seem to mind.
For the time being at least, the pro_cee'd GT is available with just one engine - a turbocharged derivative of the 1.6l 'Gamma' engine that's found its way into many KIAs and Hyundais. With 201bhp and 195lb ft of torque on offer, the figures are impressive enough without breaking any records in the super-competitive hot-hatch segment. 143mph and 7.4s to 60mph would have left.. The all new Kia pro_ceed GT comes complete with a turbocharged version of the "Gamma" 1,6L direct-injection GDI engine. There is also an aspirated version of this engine found in the standard Kia Pro_cee'd 3-door hatchback, but with a twin scroll turbocharger added, you get quite an impressive a increase in power and torque output.
