Rather than obtaining new attacks and abilities through leveling, Birth by Sleep utilizes a melding system with which the player can create new attacks by synthesizing those in their possession. In Birth by Sleep, you can combine two Commands to create a new one. You can also attach a crystal in the process to give your new Command an Ability.
